NEW DELHI: Micromax is set to expand its smartphone line up with the launch of a new handset. Gadgets Now got access to a leaked image of the forthcoming handset along with some other details. The leaked image shows the smartphone’s back panel including the fingerprint sensor and a camera. According to industry sources, the unannounced device will boast a metal back panel like some of its other premium smartphones.
While there is no confirmation as to what the device seen in the leaked image may be called, speculations suggest that it could either be the successor of the Canvas Infinity or the Micromax Selfie 2 smartphone. It is worth mentioning that since the Canvas Infinity was launched late last month, Micromax may not launch its successor so soon. The Selfie 2 was launched back in July, so the speculation balance tilts more towards its next-generation device, which may be called as the Selfie 3.
As for the launch date, people familiar with the matter have confirmed that Micromax is looking to launch the leaked smartphone within next 10 days (in September). This will likely prove to be a boost for the company just ahead of the upcoming Diwali season. For reference, the Micromax Selfie 2 and the Canvas Infinity was launched at Rs 9,999. So expect the leaked device to cost anything above Rs 10,000.
