NEW DELHI: Earlier last week, Apple unveiled its latest generation iPhones — iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and its tenth anniversary edition iPhone, iPhone X. The company unveiled all the iPhones at an event held in Apple’s new campus in California called Apple Park.
Among the three new iPhones unveiled at the event, two are going on pre-orders later this week on September 22. These include Apple iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. The sales for the two iPhones will start on September 29.
Both the smartphones are going on sale in India in the second wave. In the first wave, the duo went on pre-orders in US, UK and 28 other regions across the globe. The sales in these geographies will start on September 22, which is the same date on which they go on pre-order in India.
Apple iPhone 8 is priced at Rs 64,000 onwards in India, while iPhone 8 Plus’ price starts at Rs 73,000.
For those unaware, Apple iPhone 8 comes with a 4.6-inch Retnia HD display, while the iPhone 8 Plus comes a bigger 5.5-inch Retina HD screen. The smartphones sports an all new glass design with aluminium bezels on the sides. The duo is powered by company’s own 10nm A11 Bionic chipset with a 6-core processor. The company claims that the new processor is 70% faster as compared to the A10 processor which powered the last year launched iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.
Just like its predecessor, the iPhone 8 Plus comes with a dual rear camera setup with two 12MP sensors. The camera also comes with a new feature called “Portrait Lighting”. The feature senses depth in the image and adjusts the lighting on the face of the subject accordingly. The primary rear camera has f/1.8 aperture while the secondary telephoto camera comes with f/2.8 aperture. On the other hand, the iPhone 8 has the same 12MP rear camera.
The duo also comes with improved camera software that lets users click better portrait shots. The new cameras are calibrated for augmented reality and come with accurate motion tracking tech. As for the video recording, the iPhone 8 and the iPhone 8 Plus supports full-HD recording at 240 frames per second. The handsets can also shoot 4K video at 60 frames per second.
The iPhones come in two storage variants 64GB and 256GB. The devices will come in Silver, Space Grey and Gold colour variants and will also offer support for wireless charging.
