Delhi at standstill as 2.5 lakh people gather at India Gate to usher in New Year

Neighbourhood News Desk/Avi Arya: National Capital came to a standstill on the first day of 2018 as over 2.5 lakh pedestrians have all gathered at the India Gate to celebrate the occasion. In addition, heavy movement of motorists choked all routes to central and other parts of Delhi.

Key roads such as Akshardham, ITO, DND, Ashram, towards Film City, and Sector 18 flyover in Noida towards Mall of India, had traffic inching very slowly throughout the day. Situation had worsened in the afternoon as more people stepped out to enjoy January 1st, after the fog settled in a bit.
