Neighbourhood News Desk/Avi Arya: Popular markets in the city will remain shut on Friday after traders’ association and industries body called for a 48-hour bandh against sealing drives. (CAIT) says that it welcomes recent proposals by urban development ministry and DDA to provide relief to the traders, but argues that nothing concrete has been officially announced.
Praveen Khandelwal, secretary general of the confederation says that “Over seven lakh business establishments and 2,500 markets will remain closed on February 2 and 3 and no commercial activity will take place. All wholesale and retail markets will also be shut”. Markets such as Connaught Place, Chandni Chowk, Karol Bagh, Sadar Bazar, Kashmiri Gate etc. among others have confirmed their participation in the bandh.
