Neighbourhood News Desk/Avi Arya: As India registered its win against Australia in the final of the Under-19 Cricket World Cup in New Zealand on Saturday, a collective cheer could be heard at the C-Block of Shakti Apartments in Noida’s Sector 71. Among 11 players was a 19-year-old Shivam Mavi, who stays at Shakti Apartments with his family of four and has a tally of nine wickets in six matches at the World Cup, bowled 8.2 overs in the final, conceding 46 runs and taking one wicket.
Mavi had taken world cricket by surprise with when he bowled a delivery at 146 km per hour in the tournament. At the Indian Premier League auction last week, he was bought for ₹3 crore by Kolkata Knight Riders from his base price of ₹20 lakh. He went to school at the City Public School in Noida and currently he is pursuing a Bachelors degree in Business Administration from Al Falah University in Faridabad.
