Neighbourhood Technology Desk/Avi Arya: Xiaomi’s latest Xiaomi Redmi smartphone called the Redmi 5 is all set to go on sale today (April 5) on Amazon India website. 2GB+16GB variant will be available at Rs 7,999, while the 3GB+32GB and 4GB+64GB will cost you Rs 8,999 and Rs 10,999 respectively. Launched last month, Xiaomi Redmi 5 comes in four colour options. These three colours can be purchased in all the three RAM + storage combinations. The Redmi 5 is a ‘Compact Powerhouse’, and boasts of a slim design, improved selfie camera, large bezel-less display as well as a long battery life.
Xiaomi is also playing well with the Indian government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative with the Redmi 5. It has a metallic unibody with reinforced corners, making it durable. There is a dual pyrolytic sheet or heat dissipation.It has a 5.7-inch HD display with 18:9 aspect ratio. Powered by a 1.8GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor, runs on Android Nougat-based MIUI 9. Users get a 3,300mAh battery to power the device.There is a 12MP rear camera with 1.25-micron pixel and a 5MP front-facing snapper along with a dedicated LED flash light. Supports 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
