Govt orders completion of forensic probe within a month

Neighbourhood News Desk/Avi Arya:  Government has started working towards preparing a proposed bill to amend the IPC and the CrPC to ensure death penalty to rapists of minors within six months. Home Department is already on the job with Home and Health Minister Satendar Jain today issuing a directive to Principal Secretary Manoj Parida for completion of forensic investigations in cases of crime against women within a month in view of the ever-increasing incidents of such crimes.

City has a massive backlog of cases at the forensic labs, as also flagged by the DCW earlier.Direction came a day after Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, in the backdrop of Kathua and Unnao rape case, announced his government will bring amendments for a law to ensure death punishment to perpetrators of sexual crimes against children in the next session of the Assembly.
