Neighbourhood News Desk: 5-year-old boy died after falling from the Shahdara Flyover in east Delhi, police said on Thursday. While the police said prima facie it appeared to be a case of suicide, they had not ruled out foul play until late on Thursday. The boy, Luv Sharma, lived with his parents in Mansarovar Park in east Delhi. He was a class nine student at a private school in Shahdara and his father runs a book printing business.
According to the family’s statement, Sharma left home soon after returning from school on Wednesday evening. He returned home a few hours later, but only to ride away on his bicycle once again around 7pm. Nupur Prasad, deputy commissioner of police (Shahdara), said police received multiple calls from bystanders around 8pm. “A police team reached the spot and found the boy lying dead on the road. There was a blunt injury on his head and it is suspected to have been caused by the fall,” said the DCP. Prasad said they had ruled any possibility of a robbery as the boy had his headphones on and his mobile phone, wallet and wrist watch were found at the spot.
