Neighbourhood News Desk/ Garima Kotroo: The government has slashed out the minimum deposit amount under Sukanya Samridhhi Yojna from Rs 1000 to Rs 250 which will enable more number of people to take advantage of girl child saving scheme.
Under this scheme, a parent or legal guardian can open an account in the name of the girl child until she attains the age of 10 years. As per the government notification the account can be opened in any post office branch and designated public sector banks. The minimum deposit that needs to be made every year is now Rs 250, while the maximum is Rs 1.50 lakh.
