Rising Yamuna: a threat to low lying areas

Neighbourhood News Desk/ Garima Kotroo: The water level of Yamuna kept increasing day by day and hence touched 205.8 meters at old Yamuna bridge, the highest mark that reached so far this monsoon. After releasing more water from Hathni Kund Barrage in Haryana the level may touch 206.5 meters soon.

The continuous rain showers led to increase in the flow of river, poses a serious threat to low lying areas. Delhi’s chief minister Arvind Kejriwal announced that he would visit the people evacuated from flooded areas amid criticism.
