Police say two or three unidentified men shot Surya Prakash at 5.30pm, while sitting in his Scorpio in Ashok Vihar Phase 1.
Neighbourhood News Desk/Avi Arya: On Tuesday Evening 46-year-old property dealer, likely associated with the Gogi gang, was shot dead by unidentified men in northwest Delhi’s Ashok Vihar. Murder took place less than two months after two gangs — Gogi and Tilu were embroiled in a shootout in Burari, leaving four dead. Police officials said that the man also had criminal cases against him and are probing whether he was gunned down by a rival gang or was killed over a property dispute.
Crime and forensics team was also called on the spot to collect samples. Deputy commissioner of police Aslam Khan has confirmed that Prakash had cases of extortion and murder registered against him and was wanted by the police in Shahbad Dairy but denied that Prakash had any connection with the Gogi gang and said further investigation is underway. Police, however, are also probing the gang war angle and are questioning several people, including members of the Gogi and Tilu gangs, who were arrested earlier.
