Neighbourhood News Desk/ Garima Kotroo: Nation’s three-time poet Prime Minister and the most respected politician who was glorified with India’s highest civilian honour Bharat Ratna in 2015, ” Mr Atal Bihari Vajpayee” had been away from the public eye and left everybody in mourn. The 93-year-old BJP patriarch with chest congestion and urinary tract infection admitted to All India Institute Of Medical Sciences on 11th June and was treated by the team for around weeks.
Unfortunately, Despite the major efforts put in by the doctors, we have lost this nation’s diamond as his medical conditions being deteriorated over last 36 hours and even the life support system failed to save him.
The centre has announced seven-day mourning as a sign of respect for the great leader across the whole country. His body has been kept at his official residence – 6A Krishna Menon Marg so that people can pay tribute to the departed leader at his residence between 7:30 am and 8:30 am today and then would be taken to the BJP headquarters at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg. The funeral procession will leave the headquarters at 1 pm and the last rites would be performed at 4 pm at Rashtriya Smriti Sthal in the capital on 17 August 2018.

The immense journey of his political career began when he joined the Quit India Movement in 1942 as a freedom fighter. He was extremely inclined towards the ideology of communism right from his childhood. The very first step for him to enter in politics was appointing as national secretary of Bhartiya Jana Sangh and became a follower of party leader Syama Prasad Mookerjee.
The most crucial phase in his life started after Indira Gandhi imposed the emergency in 1975 at that time he was sent to imprisonment as Janta Party degraded the Congress for the first time. In 1977 he became the Minister of External Affairs in PM Morarji Desai’s government. As foreign minister, Vajpayee delivered his first speech in Hindi at the United Nations General Assembly.
Vajpayee, along with Lal Krishna Advani and Bhairon Singh Shekhawat founded the Bharatiya Janata Party in 1980 and was appointed its first president but very soon the 1984 elections hit him hard as BJP witnessed a major downfall but then we worked tirelessly to make the party won in next elections.
He was conferred with the Padma Vibhushan for his contribution to the country in 1992 and after that elected as the prime minister in 1996 lasted only for 13 days. His second term as PM ran for 13 months, from March 19, 1998. Finally, after the Kargil war, he became the Prime Minister of India third time and this term made him India’s first non-Congress prime minister to last a full five-year term.

“Atal Ji’s passing away is a personal and irreplaceable loss for me. I have countless fond memories with him. He was an inspiration to Karyakartas like me. I will particularly remember his sharp intellect and outstanding wit ” said by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“Today India lost a great son. Former PM, Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji, was loved and respected by millions. My condolences to his family & all his admirers. We will miss him,” tweeted by Congress Chief Rahul Gandhi.
“He was a great human being, poet, leader and above all a statesman,” opposition leader Mr Sharad Yadav said in a statement.
Batting great Tendulkar wrote, “India is at a great loss today. Shri #AtalBihariVajpayee ji’s contributions to our nation have been innumerable. Thoughts and prayers go out to his loved ones.”
Olympic medallist boxer Vijender Singh said, “One of the Greatest PM this Country has ever seen. A visionary, a poet, a statesman, a man who won over a million hearts. The man who deserves nothing but respect. Bharat Ratna #AtalBihariVajpayee is no more with us. His contribution for the motherland will inspire generations to come.”
“All of us who knew Vajpayee are saddened to hear of his passing away. He was a great leader with a great sense of compassion and humour. He will be remembered fondly by a vast number of us,” said Ratan Tata, Chairman, Tata Trusts.
He ruled over the hearts of millions whether it is small or big issues he shared his feelings with public each and every time. His personality is irreplaceable in this world as he was the one and the only “Atal”. He used to yodel these lines “Main Geet Naya Gata Hun” which portrayed his whole life. Vajpayee as names like work and he will always be remembered by us.
