Heavy pruning costs 5 lakh to NCERT

Neighbourhood News Desk/ Garima Kotroo: The forest department imposed the fine of over Rs 5 lakh on the National Council of Education Research and Training (NCERT) for major pruning of around 33 trees and cutting down almost 5 without any permission of authorities.

One must require the permission of authorities even for pruning or cutting down the trees under the Delhi Preservation of Trees Act. However, NCERT had claimed that the trees were cut under the occupation National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration which considers being a separate entity.
