Neighbourhood News Desk/Avi Arya: Delhi Government has stated that all it’s officers that they only use one official vehicle and get GPS tracking devices installed in all its vehicles. This was issued to all the heads of the department by the government’s general administration department (GAD), that no vehicle starting from September 1st will be allowed to run without a GPS Device.
This year in march, following the directives of chief minister Arvind Kejriwal that all principle secretaries as well as secretaries are asked to provide details of vehicles in their departments and the expenditure incurred on each vehicle. Distribution of cars to an entitled officer is done through executive order by the name so that responsibility can be fixed in case of it being misused, adding that tracking devices should be installed in all the government vehicles includes those of corporations, boards and all other government agencies.
Government has also ordered that a software should be developed to link log book generation with the movement of vehicles tracked by GPS. It will be the responsibility of the respective heads of departments, corporation, board and other government agencies to ensure its compliance.
