Facebook-owned company announces its partnership with Google, and the policy goes into effect from November 12th 2018. Whats App also said that “backups that have not been updated in more than a year will automatically be removed from storage. Whats App Android users will also need to manually backup their Whats App data on Google Drive. In order to avoid the loss of any Whats App data that is already on the Drive”.
Will my backups from Google Drive get deleted automatically?
No because WhatsApp on Google drive won’t get automatically deleted, as long as you update manually before November 12th. This is done from the Settings menu of WhatsApp app.
How to manually back up data?
In order to manually back up the Whats App data- First open the Whats App app and tap the three dot menu on top right, Select Settings > Chats > Chat backup, When it comes to back up data on Google Drive, click on Chat backup and tap back up. Users will need to connect their phones to a power source since back up may take a long time depending on the amount of data.
How to delete backup file from Google account
To do so you need to go to the Google drive website and log in with your Google account. Those who access the site from their phone can click on the Menu icon in the top left corner and then tap Desktop Version. Next, click the Gear icon in the top right corner > Settings > Manage Apps.
