Neighbourhood News Desk/Avi Arya: The Supreme Court had approved the high-powered panel to deal with solid waste management in Delhi. Court asked its members to deal with this matter in a serious and a “dedicated manner” in order for the task to be carried out and also serves as a “model of cleanliness” for other metro cities.
A bench of Justices such as Madan B Lokur, S Abdul Nazeer and Deepak Gupta ordered the committee which is constituted by the lieutenant-governor to meet for “sufficient hours”.
The bench also said that the members of the committee should also work in “harmony” with the sole objective of fulfilling in terms. This matter will once again be taken up to check the panel’s progress.
According to the reference terms, the committee would go in-depth into all the aspects of solid waste management in Delhi, including cleaning up landfill sites at Ghazipur, Bhalswa and Okhla and frame a workable and implementable policy.
