Neighbourhood News Desk/ Tarannum Sheeraz: Petrol Prices for the first time ever crossed the level of Rs 80. The reason behind this record-breaking increase is rupee depreciation which made the imports costlier.
According to the report from state fuel retailers, petrol prices were raised by 39 paise per litre and diesel by 44 paise per litre,
The Price hike pushed the petrol price in Delhi to Rs80.38 a litre. Diesel rate touched its highest level of Rs 72.51. In Mumbai, a litre of petrol costs Rs 87.77 and diesel comes for Rs 76.98.
The fuel price in Delhi is the cheapest amongst all metros because of lower taxes. Mumbai has the highest tax rates among the metros. In Kolkata and Chennai, the price of petrol rose to Rs 83.27 and 83.54 per litre.
