Neighbourhood News Desk/Avi Arya: When the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) was busy cleaning and maintaining the structure of the Khirki Masjid, a mosque of the 14th century that was found in South Delhi, they stumbled upon a discovery in the form of medieval period metal coins.

Officials said that all the recovered articles have archaeological value and have been preserved, and the ASI is planning a study in order to ‘decipher the coins’.

NK Pathak, superintending archaeologist, Delhi circle, ASI, said on Facebook, “ A team led by KRK Reddy, deputy superintending archaeologist from the circle office and Deepak Panwar, conservation assistant, took prompt action”.

The ASI had already started their work at the mosque two weeks ago and is more likely to continue for another few weeks.
