Child marriage and Teenage Pregnancy still prevailing in India: NFHS

Neighbourhood News Desk/ Nikita Semwal: A report on child marriage and teenage pregnancy that analyses the data from National Family Health Survey-4  (2015-16) shows a direct correlation between underage marriages and the educational status of a girl.

Around 100 districts across the 14 states, report the highest prevalence of child marriages (Among 15-19 yr old girls) than the national average of 11.9%. Though child marriage had declined from 26.5% in 2005-06.

Worst Five States  : WEST BENGAL :25.6%, TRIPURA :21.5%, BIHAR :19.7%,JHARKHAND :17.8%
