Neighbourhood News Desk/Avi Arya: One day after the Ghaziabad district administration decided to divert the traffic from the potholed stretch at the Delhi-Meerut Road, the government received a proposal from the officials of the public works department (PWD) requesting Rs. 66 crore in order to repair the road as well as construct a drainage system.
Officials responded by stating that a committee of senior officials from Lucknow will arrive soon, but PWD officials that are from Ghaziabad had prepared a proposal and rushed to Lucknow itself keeping in mind the dire situation on the Delhi-Meerut Road.
In order to let everyone know about the condition of other major roads, Ritu Maheshwari, district magistrate had received feedback’s form citizens on the micro blogging site, Twitter. She said there were more than 200 responses from the residents about the condition of nearly 50 roads. She also said, “The idea was to apprise ourselves of the situation. I will now be getting a list of such roads compiled, and a physical inspection will be ordered soon. Once the physical inspection is complete, funds will be sought from the infrastructure development funds (IDF) to repair these roads”.
