Neighbourhood News Desk/Avi Arya: A plea was removed by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) which claimed that the Delhi police had not paid water bills to the tune of over Rs 232 crore. The plea was disposed by the green panel after being informed that the amount was already paid to the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC).
The NGT that was hearing a plea which was filed by Delhi resident Sanjay Kumar who had claimed that he had learnt through the RTI replies that the Delhi Police had not paid its water bills, which amounts to over Rs 232 crore, to the DJB.
Police also told the tribunal that they have already paid approximately Rs 65 crore after the filing of this petition and the DJB has till date not given them a separate bill for the consumption of water.
Earlier, the police claimed that the DJB was claiming the commercial rates for its residential complexes and had no specific record of the water connections installed at various locations. It also said that the DJB had no proof of the bills and the meter readings in respect of their pending claims because the majority of the bills were 8 to10 years old.
