Neighbourhood News Desk/Avi Arya: This year even though it’s a milder strain doing the rounds, this mosquito-borne viral infection known as Dengue has hit over 1,000 people so far in Delhi and has resulted in the death of a 12-year old girl.
So far, 190 new cases have been reported in the week ending at October 20th. The total number of infections that were reported by the Municipal Corporations of Delhi (MCD) has now gone up to 1,020 cases.
So, even though the numbers started spiking at mid-September, fewer cases are likely to be reported this year compared to the two previous years. These 1,020 cases reported this year is still less than half the number of cases that were reported during the same period in the past two years.
