Neighbourhood News Desk/Avi Arya: South Delhi Municipal Corporation’s (SDMC) plan was to install radio frequency identification detection (RFID) system in order to collect toll tax from commercial vehicles. But now it’s been delayed due to the ban on the construction activity.
An official from the SDMC said that the RFID system, which was to be made operational by mid-November, will now be completed by next month. The electronic system of toll collecting was recommended by the EPCA to decongest the city’s borders as well as restrict the entry of non-destined trucks.
An SDMC official said that the new system will reduce congestion on highways, since vehicles pile up during manual toll tax collecting.
