Environment Ministry gives approval for ‘artificial rain’ project

Neighbourhood News Desk/Avi Arya: Officials in the Environment Ministry have recently approved a project that’s led by scientists at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)Kanpur.

This project plans to produce ‘artificial rain’ through cloud seeding that can help in clearing the smog in Delhi.

The project will commence by having an aircraft fly into the clouds and inject silver iodide. This will lead to the formation of ice crystals that makes the clouds denser, cause them to condense into rain and settles enough atmospheric dust to clear the sky.
