Warning system being set in Yamuna

Neighbourhood News Desk/Avi Arya: A two-member committee has been appointed by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) to direct the Delhi Government to set up an early warning system for the Yamuna.

This system helps by alerting the authorities if the ammonia levels go beyond the safe limits during the winter months. The Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) also has to submit a timeline in which the system could be set up.

The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) was also asked by the committee to confirm if all the polluting industries and sewage treatment plants (STPs) in Haryana are connected to the CPCB’s server for online monitoring.
