Neighbourhood News Desk/Avi Arya: Starting from next February, Hindon Air Force Station in Ghaziabad will soon be a second airport in Delhi.
From next year, all flights to Jaisalmer, Gorakhpur,Allahabad and Kannur will take off from the stations soon to be newly built civil terminal. In what is described as
Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik (UDAN), this subsidized regional connectivity’s plan is to ensure flights that are affordable to the common man.
In this plan, the air fares are placed at Rs 2,500 per flight hour for a certain number of seats on selected routes. Hindon also serves as the ‘second’ airport to help ease the slot constraint in Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport.
