Monitoring committee submits Yamuna report

Neighbourhood News Desk/Avi Arya: According to the monitoring committee formed in July by National Green Tribunal chairperson AK Goel, a small stretch that covers less than two percent of the Yamuna shows 76 per cent of the river’s pollution.

This monitoring committee that consists of retired expert member BS Sajwan and former Delhi chief secretary Shailaja Chandra were directed and submitted an action plan and detailed report on cleaning of the river to the Delhi Government.

Environmental experts raised concerns over the reports of the committee, calling it a matter of great shame and regret for Delhiites. Environmentalist Fayaz Khudsar suggested that building constructive wetlands is a must for saving the Yamuna.
