On the first day of 2019, it wasn’t only Delhi roads that were chocked by traffic. Delhiites that wanted to avoid traffic snarls by ditching their cars on January 1, 2019 had to later deal with Metro trains and stations that are packed.
Crowds started increasing from around 2pm, and despite some station exits being restricted around central Delhi, they still continued to remain high till the last train left the stations.
Stations such as Rajiv Chowk that provides interchange between Blue and Yellow lines, South Extension on the Pink Line, Hauz Khas, and Kashmere Gate were packed up. From the security gates till the platforms, commuters were still seen struggling to find their way.
