The 27th edition of New Delhi World Book Fair has selected Sharjah as the ‘guest of Honor’ country and will last from January 5 to 13.This year’s theme is ‘Books for Readers with Special Needs’.

Professor Baldeo Bhai Sharma, chairman of National Book Trust, said that they’re selecting a theme that creates an atmosphere of social awareness in the country, along with an environment of respect and equality. This also helps in replacing the present thought of pitying those with special needs.

This fair will present forth over 500 Braille, audio, silent, tactile and integrated print-Braille books. Books will include both fiction and non-fiction published by various publishers, including NBT, Navbharat Book House and Pan Macmillan. It would also hold a number of cultural events based on the theme as well such as: international disability film festival along with painting programme, poetry sessions and panel discussions with para-Olympians and para-athletes.
