Untreated waste dumping to be stopped by June

A deadline to stop the release of untreated waste into the storm-water drains is set at June 2019, by the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA).

However, a major issue is that the various departments are lacking the data on what kinds as well as the quantity of municipal and industrial waste that’s generated in the city. A senior GMDA official said that the officials from MCG, HSVP and HSIIDC agencies will be conducting a survey in their own areas to identify the quantity and different types of wastes.

He also added that the agencies are given 15 days to conduct the survey, collect and combine the data and submit the report. Once the data is available, the authorities can come up with a plan to stop the waste disposal.
