According to the official data, there have been reports of pick pocketing going on in the Delhi Metro. In 2018, 497 cases were reported, out of which 94 per cent involves female pickpockets.
In 2017, 85 per cent of reported 1,392 cases had women pickpockets as well. After the increase in 2017, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), increases the staff to identify suspects and catches them red-handed.
Additional staffs that are being dressed in civil clothes are deployed at metro stations; along with CCTV cameras were used to stop the suspects from entering the station.
