As a means of additional security, The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) plans to install 625 ‘smart poles’ equipped with ‘panic buttons’ near gates of 43 school buildings, 16 Metro stations and prominent markets and other sensitive spots by December 2019.

The officials of the NDMC said that, these ‘panic buttons’ can help the people contact the officials at the civic agency’s command centre in case of emergency.

The CCTV cameras on these poles are designed to revolve 360 degrees and can capture footage of up to the range of 100 meters. After the information has been collected at the poles, they’re then sent to the to the NDMC command centre at Palika Kendra.
