Neighbourhood News Desk/New Delhi/Avi Arya

On January 13, 2019, all emergency services at the Safdarjung Hospital in New Delhi have stopped due to the resident doctors staying away from the building. Reason was due to one of their colleagues supposedly being manhandled by a Delhi Police head constable’s son who had come for treatment.

According to police, Akshay Kumar (24), son of Head Constable Vinod, was taken to the hospital on the morning of January 13 after he complained of abdominal pain. From there an argument took place between him and a doctor who was on duty over constant delays in the treatment.

From there Akshay was enraged and punched the doctor, who sustained injuries on his nose. He fled from the hospital soon after the incident. Resident doctors held a protest and threatened to go on indefinite strike from January 14.
