In the early hours of January 16, 2019, the cold wave conditions get a grip on Delhi due to the mercury dropping to 4.5 degrees Celsius. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), temperature drops to 4 degrees on January 17, 2019, in certain parts of Delhi.
This is due to the northwesterly winds bringing in the chills from the hilly regions of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. The air quality of Delhi also descended on January 16, 2019. After remaining in the “poor” zone for two days, its value went to the “very poor” level.
IMD also forecasts that the temperature in the remaining part of this winter would be above normal in Delhi, along with very light rain on January 22. It’s also said that another western disturbance is approaching, which could trigger rain early next week.
