The Delhi government plans to conduct geo-mapping, of all drains in Delhi, as well as the inlet points from where sewerage can enter the drains. According to the officials, the purpose of this move is so that the Delhi government can understand the current situation, along with the problems in the drain network and the ways to effectively manage it.
On January 18, 2019, Delhi urban development minister Satyendar Jain, called a meeting of officials from the flood and irrigation department, and were briefed about the plan and its modalities. He also added that the engineers will have to go into the field and survey the drains. After reaching the site, they will need to take photographs of the drains, which are geo-located by the app automatically.
