For the first time, the Delhi government introduces a new kind of disabled-friendly bus that will have three doors for passengers instead of the usual two. These vehicles will be among the first 25 buses from a lot of 1,000 that will be rolled out on Delhi roads from the end of March.
On January 21, 2019, the Delhi government finalized two prototypes of disabled-friendly standard-floor buses to be introduced in the cluster model. Transport minister Kailash Gahlot said that this is for the first time standard floor buses are being made disabled-friendly. The 1,000 buses are said to be rolled out by October this year.
