Delhi health minister Satyendar Jain has said that the Delhi government is looking for a way to limit the profits of private hospitals in this city. However, officials and office experts said that the draft notification of the government has no legal standing.
Last year in May, the Delhi government announced that a limit would be put on how much profit a hospital can make on medicines, disposables, and implants after accusation of overcharging had occurred in the case of a dengue patient’s death.
Government plans on bringing in the Delhi Health Bill to apply the Center’s Clinical Establishment Act that will regulate all clinics, IVF centers, day care centers, dental, and diagnostic centers in the state. Currently, clinical establishments apart from hospitals and nursing homes don’t require registration with the state government.
