A double-storey mansion that was built on two acres, of encroached land in south Delhi plans to be turned, into a home for senior citizens by the AAP government. This mansion was constructed by a local muscleman on gram sabha land and was taken over by the revenue department in August, last year during an anti-encroachment drive.
According to the official, the LG gave the approval for the allotment of the encroached land in Dera Mandi village to the social welfare department free of cost for 99 years to house the elderly.
Social welfare minister Rajendra Pal Gautam said, that even though the government has recently given the approval of the construction of a few old age homes, they’re being held up due to the lack of permission for felling trees coming in the way of construction.
