Delhi government’s Public Works Department (PWD) plans to construct two foot over bridges on Nelson Mandela Marg and Tamil Sangam Marg in south Delhi. In this connection, the department has received financial and administrative clearance from the government.
Proposal for these bridges was first sent to the government for approval by the chief engineer (south) last month. Their aim is to improve pedestrian access across important roads in Delhi. Officials said that the people had been demanding foot over bridges in these areas because of heavy pedestrian movement.
It was said that, if everything goes as per plan, then construction would start in about four to five months. Due to the tendering process, the construction might take some time.
