Around 175 students from 40 govt schools in Mumbai have confessed about their obsession with E-cigarettes. The students from any financial background bought ‘pen hookahs’ ranging from Rs 200 to Rs 500 just to follow the trend of cool gadgets. They purchased these intoxicating items either from online websites or local Paanwallas. Although e-cigarettes have been banned in 11 Indian states but it seems that Maharashtra is still not concerned about the issue.

“E-cigarettes are viewed as ‘cool gadgets’ as they are battery operated and youngsters don’t mind buying replacement cartridges costing Rs 50 each. Just because some children live in slums it cannot be presumed that they don’t have access to e-cigarettes”
