Once again, thousand’s of farmer’s plan to stage an eight-day march from Nashik to protest in Mumbai. The reason for their protest is that the BJP government in Maharashtra’s failure to keep their promise after the last protest.
Similarly a protest had taken place last year, where Nearly 30,000 farmers, including children, women and the elderly, started from Nashik on March 6 and walked six days to reach Mumbai for their demands. The protest ended when the government accepted these demands in the form of loan waivers, prices and land rights.
This time, the march will begin on February 20 and will end in February 27. They demand a change in the river linking agreement to make sure that the water isn’t going to Gujarat, transferring to tribals and pension scheme for the farmers.
