In order to speed up the trains, Indian Railways has rolled out a semi-high speed Engine in its trains fleet. Three major trains including Shatabdi Express, Duronto Express and Rajdhani Express will be trailed by the engine WAP-7HS locomotive. It will help the trains to run at a speed of 160km/h.

The locomotive is designed as well as developed by the first-ever locomotive Indian factory Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW) . Around 14 tonnes of weight have also been reduced from the trains to make them even more faster.
