It’s said that the Noida traffic police will soon install radar-based cameras at some intersections and will cover areas in a 180-degree range. These cameras will help in improving the traffic monitoring and generate penalties through the e-challans.
These cameras require a pillar to be mounted on and will monitor 360 degrees across an intersection and each camera weighs over 100kg and costs about Rs 8 lakh. They can detect vehicles with their number plate as well as the origin of the vehicle along with having a flash to capture the registration plate numbers at night.
The data of the e-challan are being stored on the cloud-based servers and will be shared with traffic police online. According to the officials, the first set of cameras covering one intersection would be installed on a test phase by the private company manufacturing it and would be cost-free.
