In the forecourt of Delhi’s IGI Airport, six bulletproof shields have been installed by the Delhi Police and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). With these shields, the IGI airport will be the first airport in India to have sturdy security.
Officials said that two bulletproof shields each have been installed at Terminal 1, 2 and 3 strategically. They said that these shields are designed to protect from gunfire or explosive devices and one person each is deployed in order to keep an eye out for suspicious activities.
Delhi Police have also introduced a kiosk at Terminal 3 due to snatching and theft becoming a common problem with close to two lakh people flying in and out of the airport. It was also set up so that flyers can seek police assistance there instead of trying to figure out the nearest police station.
