Delhi makes waste water drinkable by 2021

Neighbourhood News Desk: National capital may soon get its own version of Singapore’s NEW water, essentially sewage treated to make it potable and if all goes well, it could soon increase its existing water supply by a fifth. Last week, government’s think-tank NITI Aayog had released a report warning that 21 cities including Delhi will run out of groundwater by 2020, affecting 100 million people. Woman’s son slits throat of man who harassed her daughter in Delhi’s Prem Nagar

Neighbourhood News Desk: On Tuesday in outer Delhi’s Prem Nagar a 51 year-old woman was arrested for slitting the throat of a man who harassed her daughter. The man, who was thrown near a railway track after the attack, survived. The Woman, who allegedly sells illegal liquor, and her two associates were then arrested. Suspects were identified as Beena alias Jully (51), who runs a business of illegal liquor, Lal Bahadur (20) and Amit (21), both domestic helps, and Beena’s son Tarun (21), who is absconding. Neighbourhood News Desk: On Wednesday Delhi police reported that on Wednesday that they had arrested a 35-year-old tour operator from Mumbai for allegedly cheating 64 senior citizens from Delhi of around Rs 18 lakh they had paid for a group trip to Dubai. Elderly citizens from Dwarka had then filed an FIR against the operator on April 9. Police said that they had also contacted the operator and asked him to join the probe. But he never showed up. Government mulls Rs 10,000/month pension for all Indians

Neighbourhood News Desk: PM Narendra Modi government is mulling significant changes in Atal Pension Yojana (APY), in accordance with fresh proposals sent by Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA). These include: Increasing the current pension limit of Rs 5000/month under APY to Rs 10,000 per month. PFRDA has also asked the government to consider automatic enrollment of citizens in APY. Raising the maximum age bar under the scheme up to 50 years. At present, the maximum age bar under APY is 40 years.
