Delhi University may scrap 50% internal quota in PG

Neighbourhood News Desk/Avi Arya: Delhi University students may no longer enjoy 50% reservation in the varsity’s post-graduate seats from the coming academic year. Academic committee on Thursday decided to hold entrance exams for all PG admissions. Decision will now be sent to the VC for approval. Till now, 50% of PG seats were set aside for DU’s undergraduate students who were admitted on merit. Entrance tests were held for the rest of the seats, for which DU students could also appear. Traders hold mega rally, seek ordinance to stop sealing drive

28-year-old gangraped, two arrested

Neighbourhood News Desk/Avi Arya: On Tuesday, police have arrested two men in connection with the alleged gang-rape of a 28-year-old woman in Mangolpuri. The woman was searching for a house on rent during which she came across two men. The two men(Rajesh Khurana and Nandan Shukla) both are residents of the area took the woman on showing her some properties where they took her inside a house, raped her and thereafter fled the place after the crime. Man Dies Allegedly After Being Thrashed By Hospital Staff In Delhi

Neighbourhood News Desk/Avi Arya:  Family members of a man have lodged a complaint with the police claiming that he died after being allegedly thrashed by the staff of a hospital in south-west Delhi, a charge denied by the facility. Family member claims that Sonu, 32, had gone to the Rao Tula Ram (RTR) Hospital in Jafarapur on Sunday with his wife, where he had some quarrel with the hospital staff. Police said that it has received a complaint from the family, but not yet registered a case. This event marks the third anniversary of the Aam Aadmi Party government, Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot said the order with regard to the free-travel for senior citizens in all the buses of DTC had been issued. DTC issues passes to senior citizens on concession rates for both air-conditioned and non-AC low-floor buses. Fog grips Delhi, disrupts train services

Neighbourhood News Desk/Avi Arya: Eight trains got cancelled and 11 are running late due to moderate fog in the outskirts of National Capital Region (NCR) on Thursday, given by the Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO). One train has been rescheduled due to the same reason. Meanwhile, a slight respite from the dense fog has been experienced in the entire region.
